Eleanor Hunt is the wife of a retired thoracic and cardiac surgeon, the mother of four, with four grandchildren and three-great grandchildren. For many years she was a very active volunteer in her local community, serving among other things as a board member of the Wilmington Concert Association, trustee of the Cape Fear Memorial Hospital Foundation, president of the Cape Fear Garden Club, and trustee and president of the new Hanover County Extension Service Arboretum, where she is currently involved with long-range planning. As a statewide volunteer, she served a Governor's Task Force for Immunization and is a past president of the North Carolina Medical Society Alliance. She is enthusiastic about family gatherings, container gardening, writing, and traveling. Eleanor and her husband have lived in Wilmington, North Carolina for thirty-three years. She continues to be the family cook and to try new recipes.
Jimmie Norton Morgan (1899-1992) was a longtime baker who, in her eighties, started writing nostalgic vignettes about her family's life in north Georgia during the late nineteenth century. She compiled this cookbook with her daughter, Eleanor Hunt, to preserve their family's traditions.
